25.12.2013  Chorus of German Song celebrates its 15th anniversary

On 24 December, the Chorus of German Song from NovSU School of Continuous Pedagogical Education celebrated its 15th anniversary by performing a jubilee concert.

The chorus had been already existing since 1998. The idea of its creation belonged to the first chief of the Department of Bilingual Education Vladimir Khudnitskiy and Tamara Prudnikova. That was Tamara Prudnikova’s enthusiasm and endless energy, which had supported the chorus for many years. She even managed to organize a trip for the members of the chorus to Novgorod’s sister-city Bielefeld (Germany) on the Days of Friendship. The quantity of the team reached 40 people those days.

After  Ms Prudnikova’s death the chorus continued to exist against all the odds. It was first taken over by Elena Matveeva, and then by Ekaterina Egorova. The image of the chorus started to change for students from other departments appeared in it.

Except Ekaterina Egorova, who works on the students’ correct pronunciation, perfect specialists such as choirmaster Tatyana Fedulova and concertmaster Ekaterina Komolyich work with the team. This tandem of high-skilled professionals allows setting new interesting goals before the chorus. Any volunteer may be accepted into the chorus even without singing experience and musical education. The choristers study the nuts and bolts of music on the repertoire of German songs.

Through all the 15 years of its activity the Chorus of German Songs is the constant participator of NovSU International Weeks; its performances are seen by schoolchildren and college students of different schools.
