Crossbow brooches discovered during excavations of the burial ground Lauth / B.Isakovo (eastern outskirts of Kaliningrad) in 19982005

For the first time in domestic science, the article considers two and three-part brooches discovered during excavations at one of the Roman burial grounds on the border of Barbaricum and Sarmatia. The analysis of brooches carried out in the article allows us to draw the following conclusions: 1. Two-membered garter brooches appear immediately simultaneously in the form of three types in the population of the Region of the burial ground Lauth / B. Isakovo in the second quarter of the 3rd century AD Given their connection with German antiquities, their appearance in the studied microregion of Sambia should be related as a result of the presence of groups of the Vielbark (more broadly — Old German) population among Aestii. 2. Characteristic for IV century materials, brooches of type Å3 are the result of creative processing of Germanic samples by local jewelers. 3. V century from the very beginning it was noted for the complexes of the burial ground Lauth / B.Isakovo spreading crawler-shaped brooches dating back to the Vielbark tradition, and their derivatives, referred to in archeology as brooches of the Schönwarling type. At the final stage of their use, in the third quarter of the fifth century. Brooches with a stellate pedicle appear in the complexes of the burial ground. 4. The variety of brooches of the late Roman period and the era of the Great Migration of Peoples, which was the result of the interaction on the Amber Coast and on Sambia of different ethnic and cultural groups of the population, ends in the end. V century BC, in the initial phase of the formation of the Prussian archaeological culture. The uniformity of the fibular material should manifest the addition in the Amber region of a monolithic ethno-cultural community.
