Статья посвящена прозе М.А.Булгакова 20-х годов, в частности, повести «Дьяволиада», рассмотренной в русле соотношения в ней фантастики и реальности. Собственный жизненный опыт и писательская практика не давали Булгакову поводов для иллюзий: действительность в его произведениях 20-х годов — это мир перевернувшихся смыслов и обесценившихся ценностей, подобный тому, что возникает на картинах Иеронима Босха и Питера Брейгеля Старшего. Мотивы и образы, появившиеся в первых крупных прозаических произведениях, будут востребованы писателем и в дальнейшем, вплоть до романа «Мастер и Маргарита».

This article deals with the fantastic and reality in M.A.Bulgakov's prose of the 1920s, particularly, in the story “Diaboliad”. Bulgakov's own personal and writing experience left no room for illusions: the world in his prose of the 1920s is the one of inverted meanings and de-valued values, like the one on the paintings of Hieronymus Bosch and Pieter Bruegel the Elder. The writer kept on addressing the images and motives from his earlier works for far longer, up to and including the novel “The Master and Margarita”.
