Cultural life of NovSU is organized through the Center of Creative Intelligentsia, University Scientific Library, Museum of NovSU History, and various creative associations.

NovSU Center of Creative IntelligentsiaThe main goal of the Center of Creative Intelligentsia, named after Vladimir Soroka, the first Rector of NovSU, is to unite various groups of creative people in the local area for preservation and distribution of national and universal cultural values and education. Annually about 7080 events take place at the Center: presentations of books, meetings of students and teachers with well known scientists, politicians, writers, artists, clergy.

NovSU Scientific Library
Scientific Library of NovSU is one of the largest libraries in the Novgorod region; it was organized in 1993 when the library funds of the institutes which became parts of university were united. NovSU Library funds began to be formed in the 18th century within the precincts of the Novgorod Seminary. Today,many rare and valuable editions of interest to teachers, historians and philologists are stored in this library. Currently,  the fund of the library comprises over one million units of storage. Annually over four thousand documents arrive in the library. The number of readers exceeds 17 thousand.

The Museum of NovSU History conducts important educational and patriotic work on familiarizing the youth with national history, culture, education. Such work is carried out through various materials on history, scientific, educational, intellectual and spiritual life of university, on the richest materials from the history of education of the Novgorod region. Museum activities include searching, gathering, ordering, studying, account keeping, storing of materials on the history of the Novgorod region. Research work is carried out for the purpose of revealing new materials on the education history in the Novgorod region.

In May 2009, the Literary club of NovSU was created. Long term successful work of literature com munity at Philological Department of Humanities Institute where students are taught creative writing made this event possible. For many years the university press published literary works of NovSU staff, this activity also gave rise to the traditions of literary life at the university. At the club meetings it is possible to meet writers and poets from Veliky Novgorod, Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Pskov, Tver.
