16.04.2019  Representatives of the Consulate General of Sweden in St. Petersburg visited NovSU.

On April 12, Morten Frankby, Consul of the Consulate General of Sweden in St. Petersburg, and Ljubov Petrova, the Culture Promotion office, visited the NovSU.

The guests met with Yuri Borovikov, the Acting Rector of NovSU, Mikhail Pevzner, Vice-Rector for International Relations, Yuri Daneykin, Vice-Rector for Educational Activities, Natalia Shaydorova, Head of International Relations Office, and Valentina Grokhotova, Director of the NovSU Center for Cooperation with the Nordic and Baltic countries at the NovSU School of Humanities in Antonovo.

It wasn’t the first time Morten Frankby was visiting Novgorod, and that time one of the reasons for the visit was the “Kingfestival” international theatre festival". The second reason was the great interest of the Consulate General of Sweden to the issues of effective cooperation between the cities of Russia and Sweden, in particular, between Veliky Novgorod (NovSU) and its Swedish sister city Orebro (Orebro University).

During the meeting with the NovSU leadership, representatives of the Consulate General of Sweden expressed their intention to support study of Swedish language at the NovSU. In the new academic year, it is planned to open Swedish language courses in the Center of  Cooperation with the Nordic and Baltic countries. In addition, issues of attracting scientists and teachers from Sweden within the Visby program and of establishing partnerships with universities in Sweden for joint project activities were discussed.
