On May16 during the Week of International Cooperation at NovSU, a festival dedicated to the Day of National Culture of the Angola Republic took place in the assembly hole of the School of Medical Education.

Angola students firstly appeared in NovSU in 2014. Nowadays, 55 people from this country study at the Novgorod State University, 2 of them study at the Preparatory Faculty.

The festival started with the national anthem of Angola, and then young people in the national Angola costumes told about the history of Angola, its culture, nature, sights and famous people – scientists, politicians, football players, racing drivers, basketball players, singers and musicians, such as Antonio Neto, Joau Lawrence, Bornita di Souzai, Bonga, Paulo Flores, Valdemar Bastos, etc.

About 20 performances were included in the program of the festival: traditional dances and songs, modern and famous vocal compositions. With special enthusiasm, guests and participants met the song of Leonardo Cohen “Hallelujah” performed by two young people with the guitar.

Every performance got a big round of applause, and was captured on photo and video cameras. And, by the way, it was decided to make such festivals traditional.
