23.10.2017  The NovSU researchers spoke at International Conference in Prague

NovSU researchers Dmitry Astashkin, Alexander Epifanov, Boris Kovalev and Elena Kokkonen spoke at the International Conference "Acts of Justice, Public Events: World War II Criminals on Trial", which was held recently in Prague (Czech Republic).

The conference, which brought together more than 30 experts on war crimes of the Nazis from the United States, the European Union and Russia, was organized by the NovSU Research Center and the French Research Center for Humanities and Social Sciences (CEFRES) within the framework of the RFBR international grant "Soviet trials of war criminals in 1943-1991: goals, functions and effects of selective mediation." 

Associate Professor of NovSU Dmitry Astashkin took part in the conference as a member of the Scientific Committee and discussant of the section "Fixed Components of Media Narrative and its Consequences". Professor of NovSU Boris Kovalev and Associate Professor of NovSU Elena Kokkonen presented a joint report "Pskov Regional Press: the Trials over Russian Collaborators". Alexander Epifanov, Leading Researcher at NovSU Research Center, delivered a report on "Information Support to Trials over Hitler's War Criminals and Accomplices in the USSR in 1941-1956". He also presented his monograph "Organizational and Legal Basis of Punishment of the Hitler’s War Criminals and Their Accomplices in the USSR, 1941-1956", published within the framework of the first stage of the Russian Fundamental Research Fund project.
