04.11.2016  NovSU scientists spoke at the conference "GULAG: echoes of war and echoes of Victory" in the Perm region

NovSU Professor Boris Kovalev and associate professor of NovSU Dmitry Astashkin spoke at the All-Russian scientific-practical conference "GULAG: Echoes of War and Echoes of Victory", which was held in late October in the Memorial complex of political repressions (Perm region, Chusovoy district, village of Kuchino).

More than 30 specialists from Russia, Poland and Belarus took part in the conference. The organizers of the conference were the Institute of World History of Russian Academy of Sciences; Memorial complex of political repressions; General History Department, Department of General History of Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia.

Boris Kovalev made a report "the Tricolor on the plank bed. Spanish prisoners of war and internees in the Soviet camps". Dmitry Astashkin spoke on the topic "German war criminals and paradoxes of the camp of justice (in the case of Erwin Soule)". In addition, the NovSU researchers took part in the round table: "Memory behind barbed wire?", which was conducted by the famous journalist Vitaly Dymarsky.

The conference was covered by federal, international and regional media ("Rossiyskaya Gazeta", "International French radio RFI", "Radio Russia", "Echo of Moscow", etc.). 

Let us add that Boris Kovalev and Dmitry Astashkin examined the subject of war criminals in the framework of a collective project "the Soviet trials of war criminals in 1943-1991: objectives, functions and effects of election publicity".
