22.10.2015  The International Information Day was concluded by the opening of two exhibitions

On 21 October, NovSU in cooperation with Consulate General of Sweden in St. Petersburg and Early Intervention Institute, St. Petersburg held the Information Day «NovSU — the University of Equal Opportunities for All». This event was organized to promote the development of inclusive educational environment at the university, to strengthen international cooperation in the field of inclusive education, and disseminate the results of TEMPUS project "Training of Teachers and Educational Managers for Work with Diversity Groups and Organizations".

During the Day, Louise Morsing, Consul Responsible for issues concerning Sweden promotion, culture, information, education and research, met up with professors and officials of the School of Humanities, and with students of Philology Faculty, who study Swedish. Then the scientists from Russia, Saint Petersburg and NovSU gave master classes.

The International Information Day «NovSU — the University of Equal Opportunities for All» was concluded with the opening of two exhibitions — a photo exhibition of Swedish and Russian photographers «Access Ability» — an exhibition about life with disability — and an exposition «Design for Dignity», where technical designs for people with disabilities were exposed.

The exhibitions were opened by the  rector of NovSU Victor Weber, the, General Consul of Sweden in St. Petersburg, Eric  Hammarskjöld; the head of the Novgorod Region Department of  Education and Youth Policy Aleksander Shirin,; the commissioner  of Human Rights in Novgorod Oblast Galina Matveeva, the commissioner of Children Rights in Novgorod Oblast Elena Filenkova, the representative of Swedish Institute, industrial designer Margarita Bergfeldt Matiz, the Consul Responsible for issues concerning Sweden promotion, culture, information, education and research Louise Morsing, and many others.

Victor Weber thanked the guests from Sweden for cooperation, putting the exhibitions together and participation in the International Information Day «NovSU — the university of equal opportunities for all». He said: «We’ve been cooperating with Sweden for 20 years now. We are happy that we found one more sphere in which we can work together, and that it will help people. Today we are talking about inclusion, and our Swedish friends give us an opportunity to get acquainted with new technical accomplishments which will help people with disabilities. And the mission of our university is to help training teachers for working with disabled children».

 Opening the exhibitions, General Consul of Sweden in Saint Petersburg said: «The heroes of the photo exhibition «Access Ability» are the people with disabilities and special needs. In Sweden, there are about two millions of them and the main goal of the government is to provide them with an opportunity to live independently. The exhibitions are held during the Information Day «NovSU — the university of equal opportunities for all». We were happy to know that the inclusion — is one of the main concerns of NovSU. I want to congratulate the organizers on such successful project. We highly appreciate professionalism of Russian specialists, who help children with special needs and their families».
