On October 12, an educational seminar "The Use of Technology in the Education System of Veliky Novgorod and Novgorod Region” took place at the NovSU Conference Hall. The participants of the seminar discussed issues of improving the efficiency of the educational process with the help of a regional distance learning system www.do.edu53.ru. Over 40 representatives of municipal and district schools, faculty members of Novgorod State University, Alexander Shirin, the head of Department of Education and Youth Policy of Novgorod Region, and Svetlana Matveeva, the chairperson of Education Committee of Veliky Novgorod, took part in the seminar.

Alexander Shirin made the point of importance of distance learning for the schools of the region: “Quality of preparation for the unified state exam is a very important and urgent task for us. We see online courses as its solution. We aim to bring into life a lot of things, not only within the frames of basic educational programs, but also in other relevant forms of education."

Starting from the late October, NovSU will organize regular webinars for students of the region on the most difficult subjects: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Russian. Pilot classes took place last spring and proved to be successful. Now, everything is ready - programs and university professors, even the schedule. The schools just need to express their wish to participate in the project, and sign an agreement with the university. This was stated by the vice rector for IT Nikolay Kurmyshev. He and his colleagues presented reports on the following topics: "Use of Webinar Technology in Educational Process. Preparation for the Unified State Exam Using Webinars. Teacher Re-Training"; "New Services and Possibilities of the Regional Distance Learning System www.do.edu53.ru. Organization of Teaching and Guiding "; "The Use of International Standards for the Design of E-learning Resources" and others.

The DLS already has its results, and the authors of successful school and university online courses shared their experience during the seminar: elementary school #33 teacher Svetlana Vasilevskaya told about the use of the distance learning technologies in the classroom and extracurricular activities at the elementary school; technology teacher of the Gymnasium "Kvant" Anastasia Sashnina shared her experience in the use of distance learning technologies on  drawing classes; representatives of the Center for Inclusive Education Anna Tretyak and Natalia Avdeyuk compared  advantages and  disadvantages  of webinar and face-to-face lesson and presented online lesson of geography and biology.
