Цель статьи — показать роль языковой личности переводчика в целом и ее воздействие на перевод эзотерической и религиозной литературы. Языковая личность переводчика — это личность, выраженная посредством языковых средств в собственном переводе под влиянием своей переводческой компетентности, мировоззренческого восприятия, географического местоположения, социального статуса и культурно-языковых особенностей. Исследование показало, что ее роль в переводе эзотерической и религиозной литературы может быть как положительной (адекватность перевода, комментарии, понимание различных терминов культуры и религии), так и отрицательной (низкий уровень переводческой компетенции в целом, смешение терминов и понятий, искажение содержания).

The purpose of the paper “Translator’s linguistic personality in esoteric and religious literature” is to break down the role of a translator’s linguistic personality in general and to show its influence regarding translation of esoteric and religious literature. As the research showed, the translator’s linguistic personality is a personality expressed by linguistic means in one’s own translation which is determined by the translator’s competence, worldview perception, geographical location, social status, cultural and linguistic features. This personality can have both positive and negative effect while working with esoteric and religious literature. As positive effects we name adequacy, good usage of commentaries and keeping the diversity of cultural or religious terms, while negative effects being lack of translation competence in general, confusing cultural and religious terms, and deliberate content alteration.
