International Projects

At present NovSU participates in the following international projects and programs:

  • Experimental Duo-Diploma Bachelor's Program in Pedagogy. The joint project between Novgorod State University and University of Hildesheim (Germany). The project is carried out within the framework of the DAAD program "Integrated International Curricula with Duo-Diploma on Higher Education". In 2007/08 academic year 7 NovSU students received Russian and German Bachelor  of Pedagogy Diploma. It is important to point out that German students are also very interested in Duo-Diploma. Thus since fall semester of this academic year, five students from the University of Hildesheim study at NovSU.
  • Joint online course in International Leadership - international project within the framework of Memorandum of Understanding between Novgorod State University and Appalachian State University (NC, US). The goal of the course to develop a deeper understanding of the intricacies of culture on communication among those who wish to collaborate internationally.
  • Oxford-Russia Fund international scholarship program

Finished Projects

  • the Nordic-Russian Cooperation Program in Education and Research ERREC - Environmental Responsibility and Resource Efficiency of Companies. Participants of the project are: St. Petersburg State University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics (St. Petersburg, Russia), University of Gävle (Sweden), Aalto University (Finland), Lahti University of Applied Sciences (Finland), Yaroslav-the-Wise Novgorod State University (Veliky Novgorod, Russia). This project gives an opportunity to study environmental issues and the most successful methods and technology solutions in the field of ecological responsibility in Russia, Finland and Sweden and also to cooperate in the search for innovative solutions.  
  • "Collaboration between Local Authorities and Small Firms for Local Development in Russia and Latvia" project is implemented jointly with the Department of Business Studies Faculty of Social Studies Uppsala University Sweden. 
  • Nordic-Russian Project to Promote Multifaceted Collaboration in the Field of Nursing Education and Research. The purpose of the project - the development of joint courses and training programs (including distance learning and online courses), networking between students, faculty and staff members, seminars, conferences, round tables, preparation of long-term cooperation projects, especially joint initiatives for participation in European educational programs.
  • TEMPUS-4 project "Training of Teachers and Educational Managers for Work with Diversity Groups and Organizations". The project is dedicated to the training of teachers and educational managers for work with diversity groups and organizations. Today’s society is interested in having competent teachers, social pedagogues and school superintendents who are able to cooperate differentially with various groups of children – gifted children, children with disabilities, children from poor  and immigrant families, etc. The consortium  includes 20 universities and organizations of Russia, Belarus and Ukraine, Germany, Austria, Finland and Italy.
  • Campus Europae project of the European University Foundation. The idea of the project is to strengthen and accelerate the development of the European Hiher Education Area by establishing examples of concrete cooperation. Universities from different European countries intend to create a new dimension of collaboration, which will clearly exceed the current degree of international cooperation among universities, with respect to both intensity and quality.
  • US-Russia University Partnership Program (UPP) linkage project “Diversity in Education”. The joint project between Ball State University (Muncie, Indiana) and Novgorod State University. The goal of the project is to increase collaboration between BSU and NovSU by establishing a new, mutually-beneficial, and sustainable university partnership. The project team will accomplish this goal by facilitating faculty-led study tours for faculty members and students from BSU’s Teacher’s College and NovSU’s Institute of Continuous Pedagogical Education. UPP is implemented by Eurasia Foundation and National Training Foundation with funding from U.S. Department of State.
  • TEMPUS-4 project "Network Interaction of Partner-Universities in Realization of the Three-Cycle Training in Educational Management" launched in January, 2010 for the purpose of creation of network of eleven universities from Europe and former Soviet Union countries and development of new curricula for network three-cycle training in educational management including postgraduate cycle. Each partner-university from former Soviet Union country will create under support of EU universities Competence Centers which will ensure sustainable quality of training and re-training in educational management on the international level within the network.  The project involves 11 universities from different countries: Russia, Germany, Ukraine, Belarus, Poland and Austria.
  • Tempus-IV Joint Project Tuning Russia” 511135 TEMPUS. Coordinator: University of Deusto, Spain. Objectives of the project are: Promotion and dissemination of Tuning methodology among Russian academic community (in particular in 9 subject areas – Economic-Management, Law, Ecology, Information and Telecommunication Technologies, Linguistics , Education Science, Tourism, Social Work and Environmental Engineering); Implementation and development of Tuning methodology in some Russian universities through Tuning Centres. A team of highly qualified experts in each Russian partner will be established in order to inform, train and counsel academic community in the use of the Tuning approach.
  • International educational program "Erasmus Mundus External Cooperation Window"This program aims at mutual enrichment and better understanding between the European Union and Russia, through the exchange of persons, knowledge and skills at higher education level. The program envisages promotion of cooperation between sending and hosting institutions, thus mutually enriching the educational environment of both the hosting and sendinginstitutions in the European Union and Russia. It enables students to benefit linguistically, culturally and educationally from the experience of pursuing academic studies in another country. The program allows for the mobility of students from all levels of studies (undergraduates, graduates, doctoral), as well as academic staff. Total number of mobility will be 180 people within four years.
  • European Business Baccalaureate Diploma
  • The "Early Learning of German Language" project is implemented jointly with the Goethe German Cultural Center in St. Petersburg as part of an Agreement on Collaboration between the Novgorod State University and the Goethe German Cultural Centre in Russia. The new development program of German language learning for preschool children is based on the latest scientific research in the field of foreign language teaching methods for children of preschool age.
  • The United States-Russia Project "Advancing Theory and Knowledge in Public Health Sciences on Global Health Issues"The joint project between Novgorod State University and University of Massachusetts at Amherst. This project aims to develop a model of health care systems and effective methods for improving population health, particularly focused on exchanging theories and knowledge about the effects of social interventions, educational programs targeting behavior change, and public policies to protect and promote health. The project will advance research and teaching on global health issues at the two universities through the joint development of new courses, programs of study, and collaborative research. Project outcomes include the creation of a new diploma specialization in public health at Novgorod State University (NovSU) and the initiation of a long-term sustainable collaborative summer institute on Epidemiology, Prevention, and Public Health to be held at NovSU.
