14.02.2018  NovSU students received international certificates with the results of the exam in Korean language

Last autumn, in November, the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in St. Petersburg hosted an international centralized exam in Korean language TOPIK. Elena Belozerova and Nina Syrkova took part in the examination tests on the part of Novgorod University. Students have studied the national language and culture of the Republic of Korea for several years at the NovSU center of Korean Language and Culture under the guidance of the teacher Darya Ismailova.

International TOPIK exam (Test of proficiency in Korean) is the official examination in the Korean language, which is held annually in early November and in mid-April by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology of the Republic of Korea and the Institute of Planning and Evaluation of Korean Language Learning in Korea and in other countries around the world. Everyone who studies Korean can take part in the exam. In case of successful tests completion, the participant is issued a Certificate indicating the number of points scored by him in different parts of the exam.

The TOPIK exam took more than three and a half hours and included four parts: grammar and writing tasks, listening and reading. The exam forms with the answers were sent from St. Petersburg to the Republic of Korea, where the specialists processed the tests and determined the total number of points for each student.

It’s necessary to note that the experts from the “Land of the Morning Calm” rated the students’ knowledge level of the Korean language highly enough. In the end, Elena Belozerova and Nina Syrkova received the TOPIK certificates in the second (higher) level.

TOPIK international exam certificates are valid for two years; however, if their owners are not satisfied with the results, they have the right to take the exam several times.

The Director of the NovSU center of Korean Language and Culture Petr Petryakov hopes that this year a greater number of University students learning the Korean language will be able to assess their knowledge at the international level.
