Scientific Schools of NovSU

Scientific School of NovSU is a permanent group of researchers united by common scientific aim. To be recognized as a scientific school the group should reach certain scientific results in a certain field, present them as scientific articles, monographs and theses defenses.

In 2016 NovSU Scientific and Technical Council defined the following minimum requirements for the NovSU scientific school (Minutes №4 d/d 04.21.2016):

  • The number of steady members, students, postgraduates (not less than one member), who confirmed that they belong to given school (and only to it).
  • The number of theses defended by the group members or under the supervision of the group members (at least one thesis over the last 4 years).
  • The number of publications in journals recommended by Higher Attestation Commission (at least 4 publications over the last 4 years).
  • The number of monographs (monograph chapters) published by members of the group (at least one publication over the last 4 years).
  • Confirmed group members’ participation in the research scientific work at Novgorod State University (at least one annual work over the last 4 years).

The minimal requirements were approved for the leading NovSU scientific school:

  • The number of steady members, students, postgraduates (not less than 2 members), who confirmed that they belong to given school (and only to it).
  • The number of theses defended by the group members or under the supervision of the group members (at least 2 theses over the last 4 years).
  • The number of the group members’ publications in journals mentioned in the accredited international quotation systems (bibliographic databases) Web of Science, Scopus, ERIH, RSCI, Springer, PubMed, Web of Knowledge, Astrophysics, Mathematics, MathSciNet, Chemical Abstracts, Agris, GeoRef, BioOne, Compendex, CiteSeerX (at least 4 publications over the last 4 years).
  • The number of the group members’ publications in journals recommended by Higher Attestation Commission, except for publications mentioned in section 3 (at least 8 publications over the last 4 years).
  • The number of peer-reviewed monographs (monograph chapters), published by the group members in the leading domestic and foreign publishing houses (not NovSU) with a size of not less than 10 printed sheets and edition not less than 500 copies (at least one publication over the last 4 years).
  • The number of peer-reviewed monographs (monograph chapters), published by the group members, except for the monographs mentioned in section 5 (at least 1 over the last 4 years).
  • Confirmed participation in the research scientific work of the group members – the winners of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation competitions, grant competitions National Science Foundations (RSF, RFBR, RHF), research scientific works made through the request of Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation or other ministries and departments, or NovSU contractual research scientific works (at least 1 work every year with a total volume not less than 0.5 million rubles every year over the last 4 years).
  • The total Hirsch index of the group members according to RSCI should be at least 30.
  • The total impact factor of journals with the group members’ publications should be at least 2 over the last 4 years for the humanities and social sciences, and at least 4 for the natural sciences and engineering.
