19.05.2018  Director of the Tokyo Institute of the Russian Language Yoshihiko Mori visited Novgorod State University

On May 17, Director of the Tokyo Institute of the Russian Language, professor Yoshihiko Mori visited NovSU. In Antonovo there was a meeting of the director of the Tokyo Institute with the acting rector of NovSU Yuri Borovikov. The head of the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language Marina Nilova, head of the Russian Language Department Vladimir Zaika, head of the International Relations Department Natalia Shaidorova were at the meeting.

Professor Mori's visit was preceded by the visit of Yuri Borovikov to Japan as a member of the official delegation of the Novgorod region, where the leader of the University of Novgorod with the director of the Tokyo Institute of the Russian Language had met. 

Yoshihiko Mori often visits the Novgorod region, because he deals with the history of the staying of Japanese prisoners of war captured during the Russian-Japanese War in the territory of the Shimsky region, but at the NovSU professor J. Mori was only in the far 1996. This time, the visit to Veliky Novgorod coincided with the Week of International Cooperation, which takes place in Novgorod State University these days.

During the meeting, the prospects for the development of cooperation between NovSU and the Tokyo Institute of the Russian language were discussed. Our university is ready to offer educational services in the field of studying Russian language and culture to Japanese students. Yoshihiko Mori expressed readiness for partnership with NovSU: in addition to educational cooperation, he proposed to hold an autumn exhibition in 2018 at NovSU dedicated to the Russian-Japanese War and Japanese folk music concert.

At the end of the meeting, Professor Mori visited the sights of Antoniev Monastery.
