08.05.2018  Educational tour for NovSU students to Estonia

Last week NovSU students visited Estonia with educational tour called “Discovering Old Livonia”. The tour was organized within the framework of the joint project of the General History Department, the NovSU Centre for Cooperation with Nordic Countries and the Baltic States, and the Centre for the Study of International Linkages among the Baltic States and North-West of Russia.



The purpose of the tour was to research  relationship between Russia and Baltic States, relationship between Russian cities and the Hanseatic League, the Livonian Order, cultural linkages, and traditions of Baltic universities.

 

The participants of the tour visited a Russian fortress in Ivangorod and the frontier castle in Narva, the Hanseatic city of Tallinn (Revel), the Livonian Order castles located along the territory known as «main axis», the Riga Archbishop Castle in Turaida, the capital of the Livonian Order in Cesis (Wenden) and the university city of Tartu.
