12.10.2017  Novgorod delegation goes to the World Festival of Youth and Students in Sochi

The Novgorod delegation of 41 people will go to the XIX World Festival of Youth and Students in Sochi, which will be held on 14-22 October. The elected governor Andrey Nikitin will meet with the delegation before their departure.

In total, about 20,000 young people from 150 countries are going to take part in the Festival. The Novgorod region will be represented by active and creative young people – the leaders of non-profit organizations, political parties' departments, student self-government bodies, journalists, university faculty members, research competition winners, IT specialists and engineers, including representatives of Yaroslav-the-Wise Novgorod State University. 

The work of the volunteer corps will be a signature of the Festival. It's going to be the most massive among the world's large-scale events. Earlier, 31 Novgorod volunteers departed to the Festival. Both volunteers and participants were previously trained. 

The Festival program includes a variety of areas for dialogue, including panel discussions, open lectures, scientific conferences. Topics discussed include culture and globalization, global economy, knowledge economy, development of public institutions, politics and international security. 

The key events of the Festival will be held in the Olympic Park. Cultural and entertainment program will be held on dozens of sites in different parts of the city. 

The first day of the Festival will begin with a festive parade of youth and students in Moscow. Veliky Novgorod is included in the regional program of the Festival. 98 international students are going to visit the city from October 14 to October 17. The sports program "Healthy Generation in a Healthy World" has been prepared for them. 

By the way, the World Festival of Youth and Students was held in Russia twice - in 1957 and in 1985.
