03.04.2015  Students of NovSU Philological Faculty visited Fyodor Dostoevsky Museum House

This week future philologists and journalists went to Staraya Russa, where they visited Fyodor Dostoevsky Museum House. Sightseeing tour was organized by the NovSU Department of Russian and Foreign Literature and took place under the auspices of The Year of Literature.

The staff of Novgorod State United Museum told the visitors about the writer’s and his family’s life in Staraya Russa, where the Dostoevskys had spent every summer from 1872 to 1880. The decoration of that time was recreated in the house, and in an exposition the original things of the writer and his family were used.

The last work of Dostoevsky «Brothers Karamazov» was written there. Dostoevsky was noted for topographical precision of creative thinking, therefore in provincial city, which was represented in the novel, it was easy to recognize the features of Staraya Russa in the late nineteenth century. Throughout the unusual walking tour future philologists and journalists were also engaged in guessing of those signs.

Now in Staraya Russa the museum of the novel «Brothers Karamazov» is created.
