27.11.2014  International conference “Novgorodika-2015”

 

Preparation for the international research and practical conference “Novgorodika-2015” launched in Veliky Novgorod. Its organizers are: Yaroslav-the-Wise Novgorod State University, St. Petersburg Institute of History of Russian Academy of Sciences, Novgorod State Museum-Reserve, State Archives of the Novgorod Region, Russian Historical Society, Novgorod Regional branch of the Russian Public organization “Russian Society of Historian-Archivists”.

The fifth conference will take place on 24-26 September 2015. “From “Russkaya Pravda” to the Russian Constitutionalism” conference will be connected with some essential Russian and Novgorodian events: 2015 is the year of celebration of the 1000th anniversary of “Russkaya Pravda” – the legal code of Kievan Rus' and the subsequent Rus' principalities during the times of feudal division  - the outstanding example of the world law. This date  baceme a key point oft he Conference in 2015. In addition, 2014 was declared the Year of Culture in Russia; and 2015 will be the Year of Literature. In 2015, Novgorod State Museum-Reserve, which plays a key role in the study of Novgorod and Novgorod land, as well as preserving its rich heritage, celebrates its 150th birthday.

All above mentioned determined the composition of the Organizing Committee and sessions of the conference:
1) “Jurisprudence” session (moderators: V.F. Prokofiev, B.N. Kovalev);
2) “History and Archaeology” session (moderator: E.V. Toropova);
3) “Museology” session (moderators: N.V. Grigorieva,  S.A. Kovarskaya);
4) “Source Studies” session (moderators: O.V. Snytko, O.V. Matveev);
5) “Literature” session (moderator: V.A. Koshelev);
6) “Religious and Philosophical Aspects of Ancient Russian Culture" session (moderators: A.A. Kuzmin, I.A. Gerasimova);
7) “International Relations” session (moderator: G.M. Kovalenko);
8) “Culture as a Resource for Regional Development” ” session (moderator: T.L. Kaminskaya).

For your consideration: International scientific and practical conference "Novgorodika" is held in Veliky Novgorod every two years since 2006. The scientific concept of the conference "Novgorodika" is to bring together the efforts of domestic and international researches into a comprehensive study of Novgorod as a historical and cultural phenomenon of domestic and world history. Experience of conferences 2006-2012 demonstrated the presence of a significant number of Russian and international researchers specializing in diverse Novgorod aspects.
